Dorothy A. (Hess) Dixon, 78, of Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Clearfield, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Mrs. Dixon was born on February 27, 1939 in Berwind, WV, a daughter of the late of John and Susie (Hilton) Hess.

She had worked in the food industry for many years including the Dutch Pantry.

Mrs. Dixon traveled extensively with her husband throughout the U.S. in their RV, and was a member of the following travel trailer organizations: Coast to Coast...

Dorothy A. (Hess) Dixon, 78, of Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of Clearfield, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Mrs. Dixon was born on February 27, 1939 in Berwind, WV, a daughter of the late of John and Susie (Hilton) Hess.

She had worked in the food industry for many years including the Dutch Pantry.

Mrs. Dixon traveled extensively with her husband throughout the U.S. in their RV, and was a member of the following travel trailer organizations: Coast to Coast and Thousand Adventures. She was also very active in crafts and enjoyed playing card games.

Dorothy is survived by three children: Richard A. Dixon, Jr. and his companion Judy Parsons of Clearfield, Charlotte L. Casher and he husband Todd of St. Croix, VI, and John F. Dixon of Myrtle Beach, SC; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Scooter Baby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard A. Dixon, whom she married on April 2, 1965 and who passed away on November 28, 2009; daughter, Cheryl L. Martin; five brothers: George, Frankie, Johnny, Jerry, and Jimmy Hess; and three sisters: Pearl Boardwine, Ruth Vaughn, and Ruby Gilbert.

Funeral services will be held at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00pm with Rev. M. Bruce Dimmick officiating. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 12:00pm until hour of services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield VFW Post 1785, 309 N. 3rd St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
